Aaliyah Nicky Young was born on February 23, 2023. She had her own personality from the start. Aaliyah had her own taste in music and liked her own shows. She was a brilliant baby. She taught herself how to roll and sit up. Aaliyah had a 12-word vocabulary and just said her first 2 syllable word. She had learned to use a sippy cup and a straw. She’d get sick shortly after with Meningitis. She had to be flown from Shiprock to Phoenix. Aaliyah was on life support and in a coma for the first month she spent there and when she was being taken off life support the doctors said Aaliyah would pass within 4 hours. She went on to survive 6 months, the first 81hours without food or fluids and being on the DNR list. Aaliyah fought hard to stay in this World. I am so thankful that I was able to be by her side every step of the way because some people did not have that privilege. I am so thankful I had six more months with her. So thankful I could hear her laugh and hear her cry. So thankful I could hear her heartbeat one last time. Rest in Peace my darling Aaliyah.
