Alan Cleaver

Alan Craig Cleaver, 39, of Tyler, TX., passed away April 16, 2018. He was born November 7, 1978 in Farmington, NM to Gary and Katrina Cleaver.

Alan went to be with his Heavenly Father. Never wavering from his faith and love of our Lord, we know that Alan was welcomed to Heaven by loved ones.

Alan was raised in Aztec, NM and graduated from Aztec High in 1997. After graduation he had a lengthy labor of love working with Teen Mania Christian Ministries driving the ministries bus for the kids. Alan drove through 48 states and visited Mexico spreading the good news of Jesus. During his time in Texas, Alan made lifelong friends Megan Clark, Bryony Tyler, Casey Fox, John and Laura Shum and Caleb Hutchings who were all with him, at the hospital, showing their love until the end.

Alan loved children and therefore became a teacher. He was currently teaching at Robert E. Lee School in Tyler, Texas which he absolutely loved. His students knew his three rules:

1. Don't be lazy

2. Don't be stupid

3. Be responsible for your own actions

His students remember these life lessons and still follow "the rules." His students will miss their teacher and the impact he had on their lives.

Alan also was the weekend manager at Ground Zero Comics where he was a part of their family. This was one of his passions and he loved the owners as well as all that visited and had events. His grandmothers knew from day one that you always buy two of the same comics. One to read, one to keep. His Ground Zero family will miss his friendship and devotion and will always remember the example he set for all.

Alan loved camping and fishing his entire life. His favorite spot was the head of the Pine where he first started going with his grandfather, Kieth Hickman, since he was old enough to walk. He also loved spending time with his grandfather, Arlo Cleaver, at Cayton Campground in Colorado.

Alan was known for his love of his family, positive influence, loyalty to his friends and would help anyone at anytime. He will be missed by so many.

Alan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arlo & Doris Cleaver & Kieth & LeeAnn Hickman.

Alan leaves behind to mourn his parents, Gary & Katrina Cleaver; sister, A;isa Cleaver (Vance Tracy); uncles, Charles (Verna) Hickman, and Vernon Hickman; aunts, Donna (Joe) Golding, Vikki O'Neal (Dortha Heuser), Ginger Miller, Joan Hickman, Betty Owens-Robinson, and Debbie Hickman; nephew, Tanner Tracy; special family friends, Jesse and Suzanne Russell, Bryan & Charda Sanders and their children, "aunt" Linda Ferrell; as well as numerous cousins and many dear friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 21st at Bethel Baptist Church in Aztec, NM., with Fritz Polk officiating.
