Albert Barela

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Albert Henry Barela, affectionately known as Al, who passed on March 24, 2025. Al was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His deep faith, loyalty, and teasing nature touched the lives of all who knew him.

Al was born on November 7, 1948, in Hatch, NM to Melquiadez & Esther Barela. Al grew up with a deep appreciation for family, hard work, and faith. Starting in the early 80's he began working tireless hours in the oil and gas industry to provide for his every growing family. He enjoyed regular family camping trips, competitive basketball games, backyard ping pong tournaments, a few hundred rounds of golf, and spending countless hours in sharing his faith with others. Al was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1974 and loved any opportunity to talk about the Bible and his Heavenly Father.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Gayle. Together they had 5 children, Dina (Sam), Michael, Albert (Jessica), Elizabeth (Mike), Joel (Ali). He enjoyed his grandchildren Bradley, Aubrey and Alyson, great grandchildren Anthony, Paris, and Nyx, along with his brothers, Joseph (Herm) and Abe as well as a large extended family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 10:30am at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 5661 College Blvd, Farmington, NM 87402.

Al will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
