Anthony Silas Begay

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anthony Silas Begay, 35, who left this world on December 30, 2024, in Farmington, New Mexico. He was born on April 8, 1989, in Fort Defiance, Arizona, surrounded by love.

Anthony graduated from Farmington High School in 2007 and pursued his education at San Juan College, where he trained to become a Compressor Mechanic. He worked hard to achieve his dreams and inspired those around him along the way. Anthony loved the outdoors and created many cherished memories exploring nature with family and friends. He had a special bond with his nieces and nephews, treasuring their laughter and joy. Anthony had a gift for cooking and enjoyed making meals that brought comfort and happiness to his family and friends. He also loved playing the guitar, and his music filled every space with warmth and joy.

Anthony was preceded in death by his brother, Marcus Begay; his paternal grandparents, Silas Begay and Laverna Yazzie; and his maternal grandparents, Tom and Rose Barton.

He is survived by his parents, Wilbert Barton (Bernice) and Delvina Begay; his brothers, Donovan Winney and Kevin Barton; and his sisters, Nicolette Barton, Melanie Howe, and Sophia Tsosie. As well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

We invite everyone who knew Anthony to celebrate his life. A Memorial service will be held on January 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a Visitation at 11:00 AM, both at College Heights Baptist Church in Farmington, officiated by Burson Corley.

Anthony’s love, laughter, and kindness will remain in our hearts forever. Though his time with us was too short, the memories he created will continue to brighten our lives.
