Barbara M. Coleman was born in Farmington, New Mexico in 1938. Daughter of O'Leone and Bernice Burnham, and sister to David and Clinton Burnham who preceded her in death.
She attended Loretto Heights College in Denver before transferring to Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado and graduated with a BS in Education in 1961. She met George E. Coleman in 1956 while working at the local drugstore and later married him in December of 1961. She worked as a teacher of science at Hermosa Junior high.
She had high standards and diligently built a warm and loving family life and all that it entails and was a devoted Catholic. She loved horses, had several thoroughbreds, and loved running them in races.
George and Barbara were married 58 years, and she was his constant companion up until his death in 2019.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and later a devoted member of Saint Mary's Parish where she was a passionate coordinator of the Adoration Chapel for several years.
She is survived by her four children whom she loved deeply, (John, Chris, Katie, and Jeff), 18 Grandchildren, and 5 Great Grandchildren.
There will be a rosary at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Farmington Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 10:30 am, Mass will follow at 11:00 am, burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery.
