Betty Mae Kirkland, age 93, gained her wings on June 11, 2022, at the Gingrich Home for the Elderly in Farmington, NM. surrounded by many friends and family.

Betty was an amazing mother and friend to all. Her children and grandchildren were her life. There was never a day that went by she didn't brag about all her beautiful family.

Betty was born May 28, 1929, in Rexton, Michigan in Fibron Quarry where her parents Bert and Zelma Shoemaker raised 12 children. Life events occurred and Betty was adopted and moved down state where she continued her life in a Christian home and met the love of her life William M. Kirkland and together, they raised their family in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

She is survived by her five living children, Pamela Moyer, Dawn Kirkland, Cheryl Kirkland Greenleaf (Dusty), William Kirkland Jr. and Erick Kirkland, one brother John Zentmeyer, eleven grandchildren, Robyn (Chris) Pack, Beth (Donnie) Coleman, Michelle (Marc) Oke, Jason Hervey, Ryan (Jamie) Hervey, Sean (Catherine) Hervey, Sarah (James) Durfey, Danny (Shannon) Szumlinski, Micah (Haylee) Szumlinski, Shane Kirkland, Carter Desmond Kirkland, sixteen great grandchildren, Kaylie (Jake) Orwick, Christian Coleman , Madison, Abel and Dannie Grace Priebe, Olivia and Charlotte Oke, Alena, Payton, and Chandler Hervey, Isaiah Szumlinski, Gunner, Gracie Mae, Gandon, and Greyden Szumlinski, two great grandsons, Elisha and Ezra Benjamin Orwick. Numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her first-born daughter Nancy Kirkland, William Malcom Kirkland Sr., and great granddaughter Lily Lynn Oke.

For those of you who knew Betty, she will be greatly missed. Her contagious personality was felt by many, near and far.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Farmington Mennonite Church, 19 CR 5577 Farmington, NM. 87401 on Wednesday, June 15th at 11 for a viewing with a service to follow.

In lieu of flowers the family requests monetary donations may be made to the Gingrich Home for Elderly 27 Raod 5577 Farmington, NM. 87401 in memory of Betty Kirkland.
