Betty Jo Mainard of Farmington, NM went on to her final home on the early morning of May 2, 2022 with her daughters by her side. Betty was born March 25, 1931 to Ralph Johnson and Mildred (Moore) Johnson in Fort Smith, AR. Betty married the love of her life James William "Jim" Mainard Sr. on May 31, 1953 and they enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage growing their family, traveling, making memories, and sharing adventures.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James William Mainard Sr. "Jim", her son James William Jr. "Jamey", and her brother Ralph Johnson Jr. Betty is survived by her daughters, Janis Ford and husband Bob Ford, Beverly Sharp and husband Rick Sharp. Betty's grandchildren include Kara Thurston, Becky Ramer, Elyse Dye, Mathew Dye and wife Casey Dye, Reagan Ford and wife Sabrina Melendez, Bryan Sharp and wife Maddie Sharp. Betty's great-grandchildren include Bella, Zoe, and Ivee Thurston, Deegan and Kambria Reid, Ruby, Matea, and Evelyn Dye, and Asher Sharp. Betty was also blessed to have many lifelong friends and chosen family.
Betty's many talents included golfing, love of words and the English language, crossword puzzles (in ink, of course), solving the world's problems, and loving with her whole heart. Betty had a quick and sassy wit, and left most she met with unforgettable and meaningful lessons.
Services will be held at Farmington Funeral Home on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 1:00 pm. Donations in Betty's honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the American Cancer Society, two causes Betty strongly supported. Betty's family will remember her often saying, "who has more fun than us?" Betty would ask that you never forget to have fun and laugh. Nana, you will be truly missed.
