On November 15, three days after his 76th birthday, Bobby Jack Campbell passed away. He left this life surrounded by his loving wife, his children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren; and entered the awaiting arms of his almighty God.
Bobby entered this world on November 12, 1948 in Slaton, Texas. He was one of fourteen children born to Chester and Betty Campbell. In 1965, Bobby moved to Farmington where he lived with his sister, Mary and her husband, Earl Lang. He attended Farmington High School. He started his oilfield career working on drilling rigs for Laughlin Brothers. Later on, he was a diesel mechanic for Dial Oil Company. He retired from Giant Industries in 2016.
On June 10, 1967, Bobby married Charlene (Clark). The Campbells made their forever home in Flora Vista where they raised their three children, each of which graduated from Aztec High School. Bobby's most enjoyable time was spent hunting, watching sports, and just "hanging out" with his sons, Brad and Brian and daughter Leigh.
Bobby was a member of the Flora Vista Baptist Church, and cared immensely for his church family. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboy fan, and he had a passion for fast cars. He loved adventure. He and Charlene RV'd through Alaska, and visited many cities on the West and East Coast; often accompanied with family members.
In September, 2020, Bobby was blessed to receive a new set of lungs. He wholeheartedly believed that it was God's plan for him to share the knowledge and importance of being an organ donor. He spoke of this to everyone he met. Stephen Johnson's selfless act, not only gave Bobby an encore to his own life, but provided precious years to several others. Stephen's wife, Marie, was instrumental in his desire to be an organ donor. The family will forever be blessed to be a part of their journey.
Bobby always said that his legacy in life were his grandchildren. He and Charlene were always on the go, attending their grandson's numerous high school and college baseball and football games. When they weren't at a ballpark, they were cheering their granddaughters at dance competitions, volleyball games, and pageants.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nell Tarrant; brothers-in-law, Larry Tarrant and Larry Risley; sisters-in-law, Rosalene and Sharon Campbell, and Jean Humberson; nephew, Steve Griffith; and great grandson, Baker Jorgensen.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene of 57 years; children, Brad (Vickie) Campbell, Brian (Lana) Campbell, Leigh (Scott) Underwood; grandchildren, Brycen (Morgan) Campbell, Bliss (KB) Jorgensen, Breckan (Tanner) Waite, Bergen, (Bradon) Zastrow, Shelbey (Sebastian) Mesa, Sydney Campbell, Ryleigh Chapman, Ty Chapman, Reese Chapman, and Chase Chapman; great-grandchildren, Isla, Elle, Blair, Beckett, Knox, Odin, and Bishop; sisters, Ruth Jones, Mary Lang, Lois Griffith, Janie Risley, Delores Elliot, Judy Winkler, and Marilyn Jones; brothers, Jim, Winifred, Darrel, Johnny, Ronnie, Michael, and Ronald Campbell; aunt, Dee Adkins, and numerous loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Bobby's Life will be held at The First Baptist Church, 511 W. Arrington Street, Farmington, Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 11:00am. Pastor Mike Morrison will officiate. Pallbearers will be sons, Brad and Brian, and grandsons Brycen, Ty, Reese, and Chase.
