Boyd Elaine Godwin passed away suddenly at her home in Farmington, NM Saturday, December 12. She was 82 years old. Elaine was born an only child to Boyd and Florence White in Denton, Texas on March 3, 1938. When she was fourteen, she moved with her parents to Farmington, continuing her education with Farmington public schools and then receiving her GED. In 1956, she met and married Neal Godwin and they decided to make their home in Santa Fe, NM. 1963 brought the blessing of their first and only child Leslie. In 1968, she divorced Neal and came back to Farmington to live with her parents later becoming her mother’s caregiver until her death. She worked for the San Juan County Sheriff’s office and Farmington Police Department as a booking officer at the jail until her retirement in 1998. After retiring, she was able to enjoy her hobbies of crafts, painting, and crochet. She loved having cats at home to keep her company. She welcomed her daughter-in-law Geraldine to the family in 1989 and her only granddaughter, Savannah in 1997. She was a Christian woman having been baptized in the Christian Church. Elaine has been cremated and will be buried with her parents at Greenlawn Cemetery in Farmington, NM.
