Charles Cecil Combs of Aztec, New Mexico passed away at the age of 71 on April 1, 2024, in his hometown. Born on August 25, 1952, in Clayton, New Mexico to Thomas Vernard Combs and Lela Alice Hauser.
Charles earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from New Mexico State University and a master's degree in manufacturing engineering from Utah State University. He dedicated 40 years of his career to the Department of Defense at the China Lake Naval Base in California. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints. In his free time, Charles enjoyed reading, research, genealogy, spending time with family, fulfilling church duties, and serving the community.
Charles was preceded in death by his son Thomas Levi Combs, his parents, twin brothers, and grandparents Wade Combs, Mable Leonard Combs, Leslie Leo Hauser, and Idolene Hauser Mosier.
He is survived by his wife Terri Lauree Combs (Andreasen), sons Matthew Charles Combs (Eudelia) and Isaac Berton Combs (Joshua), daughters Cassie Lauree King (Jeff) and Sarah Elizabeth Muhn (Sam), daughter-in-law Nicole Combs, brothers Jack Combs (Barbara) and Vernard Martin Combs, his grandchildren Emily Morris, Elizabeth Combs, Alec King, Frances King, Charlotte King, Arthur Muhn, Hailey Combs, Caesar Combs, Gabriel Combs, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation and viewing will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the Aztec Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 505 N. Oliver Dr. in Aztec. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM officiated by Bishop Jerome Jones, with interment to take place at Aztec Cemetery. Pallbearers include Matthew Combs, Isaac Combs, Vern Combs, Jeff King, Sam Muhn, Josh Houlet, Tom Andreasen, and Alec King.
