Charles was born on February 5, 1933, in Hawthorne, California. He moved to Aztec when he was six months old. He was a conscientious and hardworking man who was well known and in high demand in the trucking and oil field business. He was also a heavy equipment operator and farmer. Charles was, above all, a Godly man. He was a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Aztec, and he loved doing mission work. He loved his family. Charles and Nina raised their children and helped raise their grandchildren. They have never been empty nesters. He was always welcoming to new members of the family.
Charles was most recently preceded in death by his children, Johnny Turner and Lisa Starner, and his son-in-law, Rodney Lacewell.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Nina Turner of Aztec; his children, Petey Turner and Teresa Lacewell; his daughter-in-law, Lori Turner; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren (with another on the way); and two great-great-grandchildren.
Charles will be greatly missed by his family, his church, and his friends.
