Emblem

Christopher Horton passed away on April 12, 2025, in Bloomfield, NM. He was born on February 16, 1971, in El Paso, TX, to Dwayne and Debby Horton.

Chris was a proud graduate of Bloomfield High School and spent much of his life working as an Oil Field Mechanic—work he poured his heart into and truly took pride in. He also served honorably in the U.S. Navy, and that spirit of service was something he carried with him throughout his life.

Chris had a big personality and even bigger passions. He loved Star Wars, working on cars, and collecting guns—things that brought him joy and that he loved to share with others.

He is deeply missed by his parents, Debby and Dwayne Horton, and his other mom, Carol Wood. His daughters Maranda Hearn, Chrissa, and Ashlee Horton were his world, and he was so proud to be their dad. Chris also found immense joy in being a grandpa to Tatum, Jaxson, and Kylee. He leaves behind his siblings Keith, Jeremy, Nick, and Corey Horton, and his sister Jennifer Griffith.

Chris is now reunited with his sister Audra Horton and his cousin Valton Gutherie and his grandparents James (Pa) And Chris (Mema) Choquette and Ed and LaRue Schenck. We take comfort in knowing they are together again.

A memorial service will be held on April 24, 2025, at 2:00pm, at Farmington Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Aztec Cemetery in Aztec, NM.

Chris will be missed more than words can express. His memory will live on in the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the stories we will hold close to our hearts.
