Clyde Secrest

Clyde L. Secrest, 85, of Farmington, NM, went home to our Heavenly Father Thursday, April 12, 2018.

Clyde was born December 15, 1932 in Farmington, NM to Orra and Eugene Secrest.  He was a loving, caring, supportive father, grandfather, uncle and friend to all who knew him.  He served as a petty officer 2nd class for 4 years in the United States Navy.  In 1955 he became a volunteer firefighter for 6 years and in 1962 began his career as a fireman and Chief Engineer with the Farmington Fire Department for 25 years.  He was passionate about spending time with his family, numerous friends and many fellow firefighters.  Clyde enjoyed fishing, camping and attending all of his sons and grandsons sporting events.

Clyde is preceded in death by his parents, Orra and Eugene Secrest, his wife of 26 years, Frances Secrest (Schimberg), his second wife of 20 years, Sybil Secrest (Herman), siblings, Fred Secrest, Emily O’Rielly, Kenneth Secrest, Keith Secrest and Wayne Secrest.

Clyde is survived by his children, Kathleen Secrest of Farmington, NM, Mike Secrest and wife Gina of Aztec, NM, Danny Secrest and wife Vawnda of Farmington, NM; 3 step-children, Susan Shay of Farmington, NM, Sherri Clark of Kirtland, NM, and Todd Herman of Farmington, NM; grandchildren, Kevin, Okoye, Eathan, Isaac, Jadyn, Kimberly, Miranda, and Bree, and numerous great-grandchildren.  Clyde has several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who were dear to his heart.  He will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known him.

Viewing and visitation will be April 17, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Farmington Funeral Home, 2111 W. Apache St. Farmington, NM with a celebration of his life to follow at Emmanuel Baptist Church located at 211 W. 20th St. Farmington, NM, at 12:00 pm with pastor Jeff Moody officiating.  Pallbearers are Mike Secrest, Danny Secrest, Kevin Thorpe, Eathan Secrest, Okoye Walton, Isaac Sullins and The Farmington Fire Department.  Honorary pallbearers are Ray Mosher, Josh Grady, Mike Grady, George Brenton, and Cody Gilmore.
