Coleen McAfee

Coleen McAfee, 69 of Farmington, was called home Sunday, September 8, 2019 with her family and friends by her side after fighting a lengthy battle with diabetes. Coleen was born July 2, 1950 in Bowing Green, Ohio to Clayton and Betty Fortney. She was the oldest of 7 kids, she had the biggest heart and would do anything for anybody even if she couldn't. Coleen worked many jobs in her short lifetime here on earth. She dearly loved getting up in the mornings and going to work as a bus aide for Farmington Schools Transportation (she adored children) before getting sick. She loved Elvis, Coca Cola, and Hot Air Balloons. She will always be remembered for her baking, which the best was her Pineapple Upside Down Cake. She entered her baking into the local County Fair and won 1st place for many years, her chocolate/butterscotch cookies were divine (if she could keep Stephannie out of the dough). She was a one of a kind lady even though she was stubborn but the family wouldn't trade her for the world. Her 3 children kept her on her toes. Coleen had many friends who never forgot her even after she got sick, they even found time out of their day to visit her during her final days here on earth. She will be deeply missed and loved by many who knew her. She has never met a stranger.

She is preceded in death by her dad Clayton Fortney, grandma Mae Tabner, nephew Tony Lehman, Aunt Connie, Uncle Donnie and Aunt Bonnie.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years Mike McAfee, here 3 children DeeDee Young of Farmington, David Fausnaugh of Farmington, Stephannie Fausnaugh of Bloomfield, 2 grandsons Cody Hammons of Bloomfield and Tyler (Taylr) of Mesa, AZ mom Betty Fortney of Flora Vista, sisters Sher (Ed) Tankersly of Fountain Hills, AZ, Deb (Gary) Lehman of Bowling Green, Ohio, Sue (Alan) Weaver of Flora Vista, Sally (Pat) Lucero of Farmington, brothers Craig (Linda) Fortney of Farmington, Mike Fortney of Flora Vista and many nieces and nephews and her 1st great grand daughter Aria who will make her debut on September 26,2019, and 2 God children Brittany and Aaron Lucero of Farmington. Coleen was a tissue and organ donor so she is still helping others to this day.
