David Lynn McDonald, 65, of Bloomfield, New Mexico, was called home to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 26, 2024. Born January 5, 1959, in Farmington, New Mexico. David was raised and lived in Bloomfield. David was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He deeply treasured his wife JoAnn McDonald. His successful career in the oil and gas industry, specifically, in the San Juan Basin, reflected his hard work. A devoted Christian, he read the Bible regularly and proudly served in the US Army. Known for his friendly demeanor and kindheartedness, David easily made lasting friendships and will be deeply missed by many. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and time spent with his beloved animals.
He is preceded in death by his father Kenneth McDonald, mother Lonald McDonald, brother Dana McDonald, sister Lonie McDonald, and his son Bryan Smith.
He is survived by his wife JoAnn McDonald, brother Levi McDonald, his children Joey Smith, Andrea Garcia (Rick), Vanessa Polanco (Kiki), Jared Dockter, 9 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. David's legacy lives on through his loving family and the memories shared with those who knew him.
A viewing will be held for David on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 10:00am at the First Baptist Church, 200 W. Sycamore Ave. Bloomfield, NM. 87413. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am with burial to follow at Bloomfield Cemetery. The family welcomes all to celebrate David's life after services with a luncheon back at the church.
