Delores Cooper Vance

Delores Cooper Vance passed away on March 10, 2019, at the age of 87 in Farmington, New Mexico. She was born August 20,1931, in Jamestown, North Dakota, the daughter of Helen and Fred Barkley. Delores lived most of her life in Great Falls, Montana and Farmington, New Mexico. Over the years, she held a variety of jobs. She was a secretary at Conagra in Great Falls for several years. She also sold Sarah Coventry Jewelry, an elegant jewelry line discontinued in the 1980's. She took in ironing for people, often using an ironrite automatic ironer. For many years, she ran a used book stand at the flea market in Kirtland, New Mexico. In New Mexico she worked as a home health aide and did accounting for her sister, Mary Newlon.

She married James Iverson when she was young, and they had a daughter, Verna Lee. Her beloved nieces called her Aunty Lores. While in Montana, she opened her home and heart to help raise her younger sisters, Ruth and Mary and also her step-children, Brandi and Sherry. Delores had a love for pets, taking her dogs in her van on long trips to see family and provided loving a loving home for many cats over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Mary Newlon and Marge Kelsay. Delores is survived by her sister Ruth (John) Stensrud; daughter Verna (Gary) Reinbold; her grandsons Hauss Reinbold and Joshua Reinbold; several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loving and caring best friend and companion of 40 years, Robert Vance.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be sent to La Vida Mission, P.O Box 3308 Farmington, NM 87499 or Discover Christian School, 5509 Sagebrush St. Farmington, NM 87402. Interment will be at 11:00 am at Memory Gardens Cemetery on Friday, March 22nd. Following this, a memorial service will be held at Discover Christian School at noon.

The family would like to express appreciation for her kind and faithful caregivers at San Juan Center and her doctors, Dr. Obisike and Dr. McNally over the last five years.
