Donaciano Trujillo, Jr.
1937 – 2018
Donaciano “Donnie or Don” Trujillo, Jr., 80, passed from this earth on Sunday, January 7, 2018, at his home in Farmington, NM surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 22, 1937 in Gobernador, New Mexico to Rufugia “Ruby” Martinez and Donaciano Trujillo. Don is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Sotelo Trujillo, son Ross Trujillo, daughters Donna Thomas and Sharon Trujillo. Don had two grandsons, James Hackett and Daniel Trujillo; two granddaughters, Desirae Thomas and Monica Trujillo, one great-granddaughter Sadie Hackett and two great-grandsons Joseph Hackett and James Hackett, Jr. Don’s surviving siblings are Julie (Harry) Lobato, Mercedes (Sam) Trujillo, Linda (Pierre) Piccardi, Willie Trujillo, Louis (Servilia) Trujillo, and Butch Trujillo, also numerous nieces and nephews.
While Don was born in Gobernador, NM, his family moved to the Rosa/Arboles area when was young. Some weekends he would drive there to visit friends and loved to sit on his father’s porch to look out over Navajo Lake.
Don served eight years in the United States Air Force as a Medic, of which he was most proud. He served in Newfoundland early in his service, and then was stationed in Great Falls, Montana for two years. Soon after, Don and Phyllis moved to Sacramento, CA where he would serve out the remainder of his service and continue growing their family.
In 1980, Don and family moved to Farmington, NM where he opened his own barber shop and stayed in business for over 35 years. He loved talking with his customers. He was extremely knowledgeable of current and historic events in his home state as well as around the world. He enjoyed working in his yard and reading.
There will be a small family service on Thursday, January 11th.
