Doris Nafziger

October 1, 1924 — December 7, 2022

Doris (Tucker) Nafziger, 98, passed from this earth on December 7th, 2022 at the Beehive Home #4, in Farmington, NM.

 

Born October 1, 1924, in Lodge Pole, Montana on the Fort Belknap Reservation, Doris was an enrolled member of the Assiniboine (Nakoda) Tribe. She was one of eleven children born to Juanita (Left Hand) and Joseph Tucker. She attended Lodge Pole Day School and Flandreau Indian School.

 

Doris married Rex Nafziger on August 25, 1945, in Los Angeles, California where he was stationed in the US Navy. They moved to West Burlington, Iowa where they raised their family. In 1973 they were transferred to Amarillo, Texas for work. Doris moved to Farmington in 2006 to live with her daughter. She moved into the Beehive in 2017 where she was known as the Bingo Queen.

 

Doris was preceded in the death by her husband, Rex, parents, and nine siblings. Survivors include her daughter Stacey (Java) Bradley of Farmington, son Ronnie (Betty) Nafziger of Grangeville, Idaho, grandsons Kurt Bradley and Joe Nafziger, granddaughters Kara Aiken and Quinn Bradley and one brother, Rhinehart Tucker of Lodge Pole, Montana. She was blessed with three great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

 

Funerary preparation is being provided by Farmington Funeral Home. There will be no formal service, but a celebration of life will be held in the Spring of 2023.
