DuWayne Edwards

DuWayne Edwards, 82, of Farmington went home to his heavenly father on Sunday, November 11th in Farmington, New Mexico.  DuWayne Francis Edwards was born June 19, 1936 to Clarence Edwards and Lily Lockwood in Elburn, Illinois.  He attended schools in Elburn and worked in that area delivering 7-up and Tony’s Pizza for many years.  He also worked security and maintenance at several resorts in Wisconsin before moving to New Mexico to drive truck for Graves Oil in both Farmington and Gallup.

DuWayne was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert.  He is survived by his wife, Ruth Edwards of Farmington, brothers Merril (Alice) Edwards and Whity (Dorothy) Edwards of Illinois, and sister Cheryl Frohlich of Florida.  Son, Robert (Trish) Edwards of Wisconsin. Daughters Krissy (Barry) Silberstein of Florida and Sheri (Ernie) Southers of Wisconsin.  He was Papa to Maria Sanchez and Angelica Sanchez of Farmington and family to Rick (Celia) Sanchez of Aztec, Robin (Steve)Shaffer and Rachelle (Mark Bomboy) Westover of Farmington. DuWayne was loving Grandpa to Samantha (Samuel) Eppler, Ryan Shaffer, Julia Beer, Kelsey Beer, and Kyle Golding.  Also, Michael and Linsley Katzman, Emmy (Michael) Bernal, Jacob Silberstein and Gabby and Maddy Edwards, plus many nieces and nephews.

He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hiking, camping, riding dirt bikes and working in his yard.  He poured and fired ceramics for many artisians in Farmington. He hunted imaginary bears with the employees and residents of Cedar Ridge Inn for the past nine years.  DuWayne never knew a stranger and brought a smile to everyone’s face.  He will be greatly missed but now is at eternal peace.

DuWayne’s care is entrusted to Farmington Funeral Home.

A Memorial Celebration will be held at Day 3 Church 1111 S Miller Ave (at Murray Dr and Miller), Farmington, NM.
