Edward (Ed) Duane Wood, 81, of Bloomfield went to be with his heavenly father on Monday, October 1, 2018.  He was born November 9, 1936 in Albuquerque, NM to Edward Franklin Wood and Sadie Estell Fryhover Wood.  Edward is survived by his wife, Janet, whom he wed on October 28, 1961 in Dillon, SC while he was serving in the United States Army.  After his honorable discharge from the military, Edward and Janet moved to Bloomfield, where he was employed by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation until he retired after 30 years of service.   Edward is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-love, Gwen and Dan Alston, Sharon and Greg Bassing and JoAnne and Bobby George.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, who he was so proud of, Katie Leigh Alston, Taylor Kay Bassing, Austin Edward George and Azriel Faith George. He is also survived by his sister, Lena Mae Hare, his brother, Aubrey and sister-in-love, Patti Wood, all of Bloomfield and his brother-in-love, Lewis and sister-in-love, Jackie Bowman of Midloathian, VA.  Edward also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, whom he loved very much.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Tim Wood; and his brother-in-love, Bill Hare.

Edward was a true servant.  He served his country in the U.S. Army.  He served The Lord at First Baptist Church, Bloomfield where he served as a deacon and Sunday School Director for many years.  He served the community of Bloomfield as a school board member, San Juan College board member, City Councilor and Municipal Judge.

The family will have a viewing on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 2 to 4pm at Farmington Funeral Home, located at 2111 W. Apache St. in Farmington.  Services for Edward will be at 10:00am Monday, October 8, 2018, First Baptist Church, 200 W. Sycamore Ave. in Bloomfield.  He is in the loving care of our wonderful family members at Farmington Funeral Home.  For those who wish to express their condolences can do so at www.farmingtonfuneral.com.
