Ella Copeland

Ella "Louise" Copeland aged 85 of Farmington, NM passed from this life November 24, 2022. Louise was born on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1937 in the family home of Vega, Texas to Otis and Opal Haws. She was the fourth child and eldest daughter. Louise had 6 siblings, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. In 1940 the family moved to Farmington, NM. In 1953 she met Selby Copeland, a friend of her older brother Paul. Within 6 weeks of courting, he asked her to marry him. On September 1st, 1953, they were wed. In June 1954 their eldest daughter Carrie was born. Then in January 1956 their son Stephen was born. In August of 1958 their daughter Debra was born. The baby of the family was Troy who was born 1962. Louise worked various jobs throughout her life, but the most rewarding job was being a mother and homemaker. Louise was a girl scout leader for both her daughters from 1966 to 1970. Louise became a Christian and was later baptized along with her daughter in 1968. She then took on leadership roles in the Women's Ministry at her church. In 1975 she decided to get her GED and attend San Juan College where she later received an associate degree in the Secretarial Program in 1977. She was an avid reader, baker, gardener, and crocheter. She loved her Lord and Savior her entire life, we know she's walking on streets of gold. Her friends and family loved her, she had a wonderful sense of humor and became the caretaker of many family members. She will be missed immensely by all who knew and loved her.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband Selby Copeland, parents Otis and Opal, brothers Paul, Earnest, James, and Charles, sister Betty Welsh, son-in-law David Read and her grandson Aaron Kirkpatrick. 

She is survived by her sons Stephen and Troy Copeland, daughters Carrie Read and Debra Kirkpatrick, sisters Carolyn Mills (best friend throughout life), grandchildren Ryan Read, Stephanie Brown, Jorin Copeland, Tyler Copeland, Jacob Copeland, Myles Copeland, Hallie Copeland, and Alician Copeland. She had 9 great grandchildren as well. 

A Memorial will be held Saturday December 3rd, 2022, at 11:00am at Oasis Church. It will be officiated by Randy Joslin. Burial will be held at 10:00am Friday, December 2nd, 2022, at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
