Ellyn (Lynn) Louise Scott (85) was born January 22, 1938, in Tyler, Minnesota and peacefully died November 30, 2023, in Farmington, New Mexico surrounded by love. Lynn was raised in Missouri and Colorado. She was a woman with a strong Christian faith, die-hard Bronco's fan, could shop till everyone around her dropped, loved driving fast in the snow, going all out with decorations and homemade cookies at Christmas and loved picnics in the mountains with her family. She graduated from University of Northern Colorado with an elementary education teaching degree and taught in both California and Colorado for many years. She loved 4th & 5th grades the best, but she left teaching to pour her love and energy into motherhood. With her first husband, Morton Munroe, she had three children. Lynn lived life on her terms-she was a smart, caring, strong woman who loved to travel, entertain, cook, and eat cake for breakfast. She was crafty, a girl scout leader, choir member and opened her heart and home to so many.
Lynn retired from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs where for 25 years she worked with dedicated educators serving them as an administrative assistant. She made lifelong friends and shocked a few professors along the way as she had a way of speaking her mind.
Lynn moved from her beloved Colorado to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren in her later years. Lynn jumped into becoming an active community member, serving on Habitat for Humanity board for many years, volunteering on the mayors' council, serving as a volunteer at the Methodist church "Free store" and supporting animal rescue leagues. When she wasn't with her family or grandchildren she could be spotted around town, having coffee or lunches with some of the many friends she made in Farmington.
Lynn loved her family and left a void that won't be filled. She was preceded in death by her parents & brother, Wendell, Grace, and Robert White. She is survived by her three children, David Munroe (Margaret Munroe), Michelle Childers-Beck (Dean Beck), and Stephen Munroe. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Hosea Munroe (Mayra), Rose Lovato (Zach), Grace Munroe (Lika), Donny Childers-Beck and Michael Beck and four great grandchildren (Harrison, Hayden, Oakley, and Caleb).
Please join the family in celebrating Lynn's life, Tuesday, December 5, 2023, from 6-8 pm at Artifacts302 at 302 W. Main Street, Farmington, New Mexico. A private family burial of her remains will happen in Lynn's beloved Colorado Mountains. The family want to give their heartfelt thanks to Basin Hospice and Beehive Homes 2, for their amazing staff of loving caregivers for all their dedicated care and support of Lynn Scott.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of Lynn Scott to your local Habitat for Humanity, Animal shelter or Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
