Elvin Thomas Ritchey, 81, passed away in Bloomfield, NM on July 10, 2023.
Elvin was born in Sherman Valley, PA, September 1, 1941. Elvin attended high school at Northern Bedford, PA and graduated in 1959. In 1964, he moved to New Mexico to work at the Brethren in Christ Navajo Mission in Huerfano, New Mexico. He met the love of his life as he was driving from PA to the Mission; she was waiting for the Bus in Blanco when he stopped and asked her for directions.
In 1966, he left the Mission and worked for several trucking companies including ICX, EB Law, LW Miller, Plateau, Gary Energy and Thriftway. In 1973 he became an Owner/Operator doing long haul trucking. There were times he would pull 2 trips a day over Red Mountain in the middle of winter. Before retirement in 2014, he drove his dump truck out in the oil fields for several years hauling many different materials.
He enjoyed Racing Cars, Motorcycles, riding his Harley, and working on his vintage vehicles. He was passionate about any and all sports, but he truly Loved his Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Corrine Ritchey (Gonzales); his daughters, Deanna and Misty Ritchey; Sisters, Dolores Diehl, Della Clark, Carolyn (Harley) Smith; his brother in-law, George Sandoval; and many nieces and nephews. Elvin is preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Martha Ritchey
Funeral services will be held July 22, at 11 a.m. at Bloomfield Assembly of God, 211 E. Oak St., Bloomfield, NM 87413.
