Erlinda Chavez, 90, of Farmington, was born in Cuba, N.M. to Belarmino and Sefora (Montoya) Trujillo on October 31, 1932. Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday December 24, 2022.
Erlinda is preceded in death by her beloved husband Modesto Chavez, parents Belarmino and Sefora Trujillo, brothers Joe, Archie and Euesbio and sisters Angie and Margie.
She is survived by her brother Leroy (Linda) Trujillo and sisters Charlotte (Ross) Jaramillo, Gloria (Lee) Chavez, Hazel Chavez and Irene Sandoval. Her children Billy (Margie) Chavez, Robert Chavez, JoAnn (David) McDonald, Richard (Candice) Chavez and Sharon (Ernest) Martinez. Erlinda was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Her family is grateful that she is no longer suffering and is in peace with her Lord and Savior as she reunites with her Husband and loved ones in Heaven.
Erlinda was truly a gift on Earth from God and impacted everyone she came in contact with. Her loving nature, infectious smile and distinguishable laugh brought joy to the lives of many. She made everyone feel welcome and was extremely generous.
Erlinda was a devote Catholic and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Farmington, N.M. She was a very loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Erlinda made all of her grandchildren feel very special. She worked very hard her whole life. Erlinda enjoyed to go camping, gambling, playing bingo and loved her QVC. She treasured tending to her plants and flowers. She had a beautiful yard and cherished her magnificent roses. Erlinda will be greatly missed on Earth, but she is happy in Heaven with all her loved ones who have gone before her.
Reciting of the Rosary will take place at 9:30 a.m. and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday January 3, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Farmington, N.M., with Fr. Tim Farrell presiding. A reception will follow the mass at the Parish Hall. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Robert Chavez Jr., Dominic Chavez, Jason Chavez, Damian Chavez, Fabian Chavez, Matthew Martinez, Jared Dockter and Albert Martinez.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Martinez Jr., David McDonald, Jason Peace, Dan Baker, Paul Vigil, Modesto Vigil, Kiki Polanco, Alex Polanco, Rick Garcia, Joseph Villalobos and Jacob Chavez.
