Esther Marion May

Esther Marion May, age 88, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on July 31, 2024, in Aztec, NM. Born in Gloversville, NY, to Chester and Ila Frye, Esther was a devoted stay-at-home mother who lovingly helped raise her children, grandchildren and numerous family members. She was blessed with 6 daughters, 30 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon May; daughter, Lola Rebecca May; parents, Chester and Ila Frye; brothers, Donald Frye, Merrill Frye, Andrew Frye, and Chester Frye Jr.; sisters, Minnie Honeywell, Frances Wilkins, and Nadine Morrison; and granddaughter, Elizabeth May Niemeyer.

Esther is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Darryl) Newton, Wendy (Stanley) Ferguson, Rebecca May, Amy May, Melissa (Dan) Lightner, and Karen (R. Jack) Gifford; her sisters, Laura Carpenter and Patricia Putman; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. The family extends a special thank you to her granddaughter Erica May for her dedicated care over the past few years.

Pallbearers will include Shawn May, Derek May, Robert May, Evan May, David May, and Dillon May. Honorary Pallbearers are Dominic Frye, Stanley Ferguson, Patrick Crouch, and Jeremy Salazar.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Farmington Funeral Home, 2111 W. Apache St., followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St., with a potluck reception immediately following at 5805 Pallas St., Farmington, NM.

Esther will be greatly missed by many.
