Our beloved mother reunited with her husband on June 23, 2024, surrounded by her children at the age of 95. She was loved very much by all who knew her.
Born May 9, 1929 to Toribio & Matiana Valdez in Blanco, NM. Esther married Joe (Jake) Sandoval on December 13, 1947. They had 10 children that they raised with so much love and understanding. Throughout her life, Esther worked for various restaurants as a cook, people always commented on how good it was, especially her green chili.
Esther is survived by her children, Nick Sandoval (Antonia), Rebecca Duran, Peggy Herrera, Dorothy Herrera (Felix), Frances Barela (John), Georgia Harrison (Lincoln), 28 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and 30 great-great grandchildren. She lived to see 5 generations. She is also survived by her sister Julia Candelaria, 2 brothers Abel Valdez & Richard Mantano and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, many siblings, her children, Gerald, Norma, Leroy, Gloria and her grandchildren Baby Johnny, Desmond, Kris Jr., Zachariah and Aria.
Esther will be missed by her family and friends. She was a wonderful lady who enjoyed being around her family and joking around. She had a wonderful sense of humor but especially enjoyed joking around with her daughter Frances, telling "dirty" jokes to see if they could embarrass her daughter Becky, which they were usually successful. Even in her last days she was still joking around.
We know that heaven received another angel. Until we are gathered together again. we will think of her often, with a smile on our face and love in our hearts.
Services will be held Saturday June 29, 2024, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bloomfield, New Mexico. Rosary at 10:00AM and Mass at 10:30AM.
