He joined the United States Air Force 1/15/1957 discharged 1/16/1961
Floyd joined the AF did his training at Kessler AFB Miss. He would be stationed in Okinawa, Japan for a short time and then end his Military service in Spokane, Washington.
Floyd would meet Maria "Terrie" Lovato Maestas in November 1960 at Thanksgiving in Spokane Washington. Having known her from their hometown of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. From that date they were inseparable. They married January 26th, 1961 and celebrated their 62nd year of marriage this year.
After being married Floyd gained employment with the Federal Aviation Administration. Together Floyd, Maria and Elizabeth, made their home working for the FAA in Salt Lake City, Utah. They then welcomed a daughter Dorothy "Dotti" Maestas-O'Neill in April 1964. And another Daughter Josie Maestas-Litle in July 1968. After years of schooling for the FAA in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the FAA took them to Trinidad, Colorado (bringing them a little closer to Pagosa Springs). At which time they welcomed Gilbert Fridolin Maestas born in Raton, NM in July of 1972.
Having a chance to move from time to time Floyd put in to move to Pueblo, Colorado in 1973 working as a Radar Technician for the FAA. But that was shJort lived and moved again to Farmington New Mexico in 1974 and the children were raised, and they still resided till his time of death in February this year.
Floyd and Terrie had many adventures like owning a record store called "Disco T's" which was located in the Palmer Plaza and moved it a short time up to Broadway. Closed it in 1982
Floyd also in his retirement decided to try his hand at wood working and building cabinets, doll cases, shadow boxes, and pretty much anything wood working calling it Unique Woodworks.
Survived by: His Loving wife of 62 years Maria Lovato-Maestas, Daughters: Dorothy "Dotti" (Jesse) Maestas-O'neill, Josie (Rich) Maestas-Litle.
Grandchildren: Ariane (Luke) Archuleta-Sullivan, Martin (Melanie) Archuleta, Ryan (Lilliana) Roller, Ammber (Louis) Maestas-Valdez
Great grandchildren: Taelor Larkins, Ryan Sullivan, Aspen Archuleta, Isa Lovato, Alice Roller, Daniel Bailon, Shawn Bailon and Jane Bailon, Sebastian Delgado, Abigail Delgado.
Numerous nephews and nieces and loved ones left behind.
Proceeded in Death by: His only son Gilbert F. Maestas, Daughter M. Elizabeth Maestas-McCabe
His parents: Glorifica Martinez-Montoya and Ismael Maestas. Adopted parents: Senaida "Sadie"Montoya-Gallegos and Sedonio "Don" Gallegos
