Going Home Blue
August 27, 1950 - November 1, 2022
Guy Bruce, AKA Dad, Popsy, Blues, Coach, flew home to be with the Lord on November 1, 2022. Bruce's life began in Albuquerque, NM born to Rufus Myers and Martha Shamas. He completed high school in Santa Fe where he met many of his lifelong friends. Eventually, he migrated to Farmington where he put down roots with his wife Stephanie and worked as an iron worker and later as a plant operator. Eventually, he traveled across the country commissioning new power plants where he earned his engineering credentials.
To say he was larger than life was an understatement. He filled every room he entered with his distinct and contagious laugh. You could find him hunting with his sons, fishing the rivers with his brother and friends, or cheering on the sidelines of his grandkids' sporting events. He coached and touched the lives of countless kids in the community with lessons on and off the field. If you were lucky enough to call him friend, coach, brother, Popsy, or dad; you could ALWAYS count on him to be in your corner. At the drop of a hat, he would answer the calls of his kids and family whom he couldn't be prouder. He always spoke about legacy, and he left a rich one full of love and faith. He understood the secret of life was to love selflessly and to see the good in everyone. He never met a stranger, and his quick-witted humor was unmatched.
Bruce's surviving tribe includes his brother Gary, sisters Cindy (Bill), and Marsha; Daughters Dawn (Alan) and Dani (Jed), Sons Dustin (DeeDee), and Dalyn; his granddaughters Brenyn, Ayla, Dempsey, Tinley, and Oakley, and grandsons Zane, Dayton, Strater, Ridge, and Dawson.
His celebration of life will be held November 22, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Potter's House, 4200 College Blvd Farmington, NM. In his spirit, in lieu of flowers or gifts-spend time with someone you haven't seen in a while and laugh OFTEN and LOUD!!
There will be opportunities at the service to share your stories about Bruce. If you would like them to be read or saved for the family, please write them down or email them along with any pictures you may have to dmyers369@gmail.com.
