James Easley, Jr.

June 4, 1929 — October 25, 2021

James Easley, Jr.

On Monday, October 25th, James Warren Easley Jr. went to join his loving wife Betty, in Heaven. Dad was an amazing story teller who enjoyed his daily, early morning get togethers with his coffee buddies at TJ's Diner. Many a tales of day's gone by were shared.
He was an amazing, husband, father, grandfather and family member who was generous with his love and compassion for all.
He loved his farm and all of the hard work that it entailed. His passion for hard work was reflected at his farm in which a barn that was originally built by his dad and uncle on property at West Apache, was then relocated by him. He lovingly took it apart board by board and then rebuilt it on his farm located in West Hammond. A commitment to hard work was his passion as well as his love for family and friends.
Dad's devotion to Mom was shown everyday when he told her how much he loved her and would kiss her goodbye for the day. This was followed by the same greeting when he returned.
Jim served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He served two tours of duty as an E-2 (FA) Fireman Apprentice. He was stationed in Hawaii and had many great adventures. This is where he also met the love of his life, Betty Friedrich. They met during a church scavenger hunt, then three months later joined hands in a marriage which lasted 64 years.
Dad will always be remembered as a local historian for the early days of Farmington. His uncanny ability to recall the facts and lore of early families and events were chronicled in a book by local writer and historian Connie Nordstrom.
We will miss him greatly but rejoice in the fact that he is reunited with mom and his many special family members who went before him. What an amazing legacy he leaves behind. Love you Dad.
