James Elliott Kothe

November 13, 1967 — August 16, 2023

Farmington

James was born November 13, 1967, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He joined his heavenly father unexpectedly August 16,2023 at 55 years old.

James and Lisa married August 3, 1991, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Farmington and just celebrated 32 years of marriage. He was a loving husband, daddy to his girls Rebecca and Jessica, and welcomed son in law Nicholas Wood. He was also so proud to be "G" to his grandson Liam, who hangs the moon.

James was the second of four children to Don and Linda Kothe. He was a great son, brother, and uncle. He attended six years of Catholic school and was an alter boy growing up. His family moved to Farmington from Odessa, Texas in 1985. He attended Farmington High School, enjoyed playing football and easily made friends, where most know him as "Kothe".

He worked hard, whether for his job, family, or friends. He often did not know when to take a break and would over do, but he would get the job done right. James also knew how to play hard as well.

A man of many talents, able to do anything he put his mind to, never heard him say "I don't know how," or "I can't do it". He researched or just figured out how to do it. Of the many skills he had was his ability to fix anything from electronics, cars, electrical, oilfield automation. He could do woodwork very skillfully, welding, construction, you name it. Truly loved tools of all kinds, old and new. He was good with technology and really liked cool gadgets.

Music was a favorite past time. He listened to all genres and was quite knowledgeable with all kinds of trivia.

A favorite activity he enjoyed with his girls was target shooting.

James was an avid supporter of his kids' activities, attending many soccer, basketball, volleyball games, track/cross country meets, choir concerts and dance recitals. He enjoyed the opportunity to watch Liam play soccer.

Not only was James loved by his friends and family, he was loved by animals. Wherever he was, if there was an animal, they knew he was a kind soul and were drawn to him. He was affectionately known as the "cat whisperer" within the family.

Most of James ‘work career was around oilfield. He worked long, hard hours. He was an honest and loyal employee, working for several companies over the years. The majority of his work was as an automation technician. He knew his way out in the field. James was not afraid of hard work.

James is preceded in death by his parents Don and Linda Kothe, and his grandparents EC and Ruby Kothe, Henry S. and Sylvia Johnston.

James is survived by his wife Malissa Carmichael Kothe (Lisa); his daughters Rebecca Kothe, Jessica Wood (Nicholas); Grandson Liam Kothe; Father and Mother in-laws; Ken and Cheryl Carmichael; Brothers; Patrick Kothe (Marilee)and 3 children, Mark Kothe, and daughter Kyla. Sisters in-law; Angela(Richard)Moorehead and 4 children, Delena Carmichael and daughter Josephina, Stephanie Kothe Ned and two daughters.

James did not know a stranger, and if you are lucky enough to have known him then you are truly blessed. His presence is so missed. His sparkling blue eyes and beautiful smile will never be forgotten. We Love You Always and "Allways".
