J.C. Harris

J.C Harris was born July 29, 1925 in Eufaula, OK. To his parents Claud and Ida Harris as fourth child out of ten. He was the final surviving child of the ten until he was called home. JC was raised in Stecker, OK. And went on to join the US Navy, serving on the U.S.S Ulalde during WWII. In the South Pacific. He then worked in the oilfield in the San Juan Basin, retiring in 1996 as field superintendent for BHP Petroleum. He had previously married Louise Reedy on February 4, 1947 and together had 3 children; Lujan Harris, Robert (Janna) Harris, and Kevin (Linda) Harris. Later in his life he was united in marriage to Jennie Rhoma Horvath on March 16, 1976 and remained married for 42 years to the love of his life. As one of his greatest accomplishments, J.C and Jennie were able to celebrate their 42nd anniversary this past March. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating, hunting, and watching as many “old westerns” as possible. You could never escape the likelihood of being joked to or about, as he loved to make others laugh with his sense of humor. There wasn’t a thing he couldn’t fix, a fellow he couldn’t help, or a garden he couldn’t make grow. Rest assured he planted many seeds in the lives he left behind. His love never waivered for his family. Especially his step-daughters whom he had always loved and cared for as his very own. He was a one-of-a-kind. A husband, a father, and a grandpa.

He is survived by his wife Jennie Harris; children Lujan Harris, Robert (Janna) Harris, and Kevin (Linda) Harris; step-children Janie (Rick) Durrett, Bobby Horvath, Judy (Randall) Hale, and Becky (Steve) Smith; grandchildren Casey (Angie) Hall, Melanie Mize, Jacob (Connie) Hall, Josh Harris, Seth Harris, Cody (Shivoni) Horvath, Natalie Horvath, Ryan Horvath, Amber (Mike) Middleton, Kayla (Chris) Opperman, and 13 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at Farmington Funeral Home Thursday, April 12th at 10:30am. Interment will follow service at Greenlawn Cemetery where Military Honors will be performed.
