On Sunday, October 20th, 2024, Jerel Pete Salazar, loving son and father, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 28. He was born January 7, 1996, in Alamosa, Colorado, to Angel Marie Espinoza and Jerome Salazar.
Although Jerel’s main passions in life were his daughters, Neveah Mae Salazar and Nalah Marie Salazar, and the great outdoors, he loved many things. He loved life. Jerel’s outgoing nature could be witnessed in his many adventures including fishing, ice fishing, hunting, camping, going to the lake, going to concerts, and rocking out. Jerel loved music, cooking, eating, and watching scary movies and dry comedies. Jerel never knew a stranger. He welcomed all people and served as comedian and matchmaker often. Jerel took pride in being clean, shaven, and nicely dressed. His haircuts were a top priority for him, and he always smelled amazing. His big heart, beautiful smile, and open arms welcomed all to feel his love and big, tight bear hugs. So many of us will miss the peace, calm, and security of his hugs and his presence. Along with being loving and sharing his light, Jerel had a very strong mischievous side. He loved playing pranks, talking trash, witty comebacks, water fights, Orbeez shooting competitions, and teaching young children sign language. Jerel was generous, not just with his love, light, humor, and joy, but also with his possessions and, more importantly, his time – chauffeuring others around and giving personalized, one-on-one attention. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know this incredible man.
Jerel was preceded in death by grandparents, Filimon Salazar, Gertrude Salazar, Telésforo Lobato, Georgeann Aguilar, and many other family members and friends. Jerel is survived by his daughters, Nevaeh and Nalah Salazar; mother, Angel Espinoza (Joe Martinez); father, Jerome Salazar (Melissa Atencio); brother, Jerome Salazar (Shantel Aguirre); sisters, Nicole Espinoza and Andrea Salazar (Kevin O’Cana); and girlfriend, Jazmine Webb. He is also survived by many wonderful uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
