Dr. Jimmy "Jim" Dee Baker, 81, of Aztec, NM passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022. He was born on September 13, 1941 to Vernon and Naomi Baker in Ontario, CA. At a young age Jim moved with his parents to Fort Sumner, NM where he spent the rest of his childhood. In high school Jim was a track star, he treasured this part of his youth. After graduating from Fort Sumner High School in 1959 he married the love of his life Kay. Together they had 4 daughters, 9 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Jim was a veterinarian for 50 years with 25 of those years in Aztec, NM at the Aztec Animal Clinic. He was loved and respected by the community in Aztec and cared about the pets of this town as much as the people. Many hobbies brought him joy in life but his favorites were fishing, hunting, trains, listening to music, and playing the guitar. Jim is reunited in heaven with his parents Vernon and Naomi Baker, his brothers-in-law Wayne Nation and Windell Crossland, nephew Paul Edward Nation, and his loving wife Kay. He is survived by his daughters: Cynthia Baker (Mark), Phyllis Rowden, Cecily Sutton, and Jill Cox (Salty); his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts. The following will have the honor of being a pallbearer: Salty Cox, Daniel Nation, Colton Blaylock, Calvin Hargis, Derek MacGuffie, and Gio Fragulia.
