Jimmy Lee Gary

Bloomfield, NM - Jimmy Lee Gary, affectionately known as J.L., passed away on June 14, 2024, at the age of 79. He was born on July 22, 1944, in Baird, Texas, to Mary L. Gary and Loyd B. Gary.

J.L. was the proud owner/operator of J and M Gary Inc, a trucking company. He retired in 2016.

Outside of work, J.L. found joy in various hobbies including fishing, gardening, and tinkering with his “junk”. Among his proudest accomplishments were his family and his Texas roots. J.L. cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and took great pride in being a devoted family man.

J.L. is preceded in death by sons Lee Gary, Beau James Gary, daughter Suzy Renea Gary; parents Mary L. and Loyd B. Gary; brothers Bill Gary, D.A. Gary, A.B. Gary; sisters Raynell Duncan and Virginia Stoker.

J.L. is survived by his loving spouse, Mary Alexis Gary; son Jimmy Lynn Gary; daughter Raven Alexis Goswick (Sam); brother Tommy Gary (Sharon); sisters Joyce Marton, Joann Marton; as well as 8 grandchildren, including Madison Ann Marie, and numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. 

He will be remembered as someone who was always willing to help others including stopping to help stranded motorists.

In honoring the life of J.L. Gary, let us remember his warmth, generosity, and dedication to those he held dear. May he rest in peace knowing he created a legacy of love that will endure through the lives he touched.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 am at St. Mary’s Church in Bloomfield, NM on Friday, June 28th, 2024. A reception will immediately follow the funeral mass at the church hall.
