Joan & Donald Wood

Two hearts forever joined as one; Donald Kenneth Wood Sr. and Joan Cecilia Wood were called home within a week of one another. Donald Wood Sr was born on December 25, 1932, in Sturgeon Bay, WI and went to be with his Lord on November 25, 2021. Joan Wood was born on born on December 18, 1936, in Minneapolis, MN and joined her husband in heaven on November 29, 2021. Don Wood passed away in Farmington, New Mexico with family nearby after battling health issues. They attended Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was well known for the love of his family, friends and nature. He could often be found outside tending to the pond or fields near the house he built for his wife and himself. He was always eager to share his jokes and wisdom with others. His values of faith, family and friendship will be remembered in the hearts of those he came into contact with. Joan Wood passed away in Cedar Hill, New Mexico in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She had a heart as big as her smile. Her love for life and her family will missed dearly. Joan had a smile that could radiate the joy of her heart, she always expressed the positives of life. Her faith, family and friendships were everything to her. Her love for hummingbirds and nature was her favorite thing to enjoy. Forever hers “Love you muches and muches”. They were married on May 8th, 1954, married for 67 years. Don and Joan would travel in their earlier years to visit family and friends. They also ran a business together in Colorado and New Mexico, keeping them busy and given the opportunity of meeting many of their close friends. Within the last years of life, they enjoyed the view from their porch watching wildlife and the river. Always together here on earth and now forever together in the glory of heaven; side by side, hand in hand, heart and soul.

Don and Joan are preceded in death by both sets of parents Kenneth and Mabel Wood, Joseph and Ethel Maniskowski, son Donald K. Wood Jr, sisters Elaine Greene and Marie Terrell, great-granddaughter Madison Grace Bowen.

They are survived by their sons Robert Wood (Kim) of Farmington, New Mexico. Rodney Wood of Salt Lake City, UT. Donna Brown (Pat) of Orange Grove, TX. Brothers Kenny Stumpf (Beu) of Minnesota; Joe Manikowski (Sue) of Minnesota. 13 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
