Jody Lynn Grey was born August 21, 1963 at the Community Hospital in Durango, CO. He passed from this life on January 23, 2022 at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, NM due to ongoing medical issues.
He is survived by his daughter Jazmine Grey, sister Lorna and husband Terry Eagle, and Aunt Nyla Sturdevant Burkett. He was preceded in death by his parents Wally and Agnes Grey, brother Layne Grey, maternal grandparents Gus and Elizabeth Olson, paternal grandparents Stokes and Ruth Sturdevant, nephew Travis Eagle and nephew Chris Eagle.
Although born in Durango, the family home was in Silverton. Jody attended kindergarten through 7th grade in Silverton School and moved with the family to Aztec in 1977. He attended school there and later received his GED. He was a cute little kid that liked to meet the train in Silverton in the summer and sell small rock specimens to tourists.
His nature was to be a very friendly and kind person. He loved to fish and spent many hours in the San Juan Mountains with his grandpa Gus "wetting a line" as they called it. Later in life he learned to be a great cook and loved to garden.
Life was hard for Jody, and now he is at rest with his savior. He will be placed in the family gravesite in Silverton later this summer.
Thank you to San Juan Regional Medical Center for all of the care they have provided for Jody over the years.
