John Alexander

Farmington

John William Clay Alexander, age 86 of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away on Thursday October 24, 2024, at his residence in Farmington. John was born in a snow storm on February 25, 1938, in Thoreau, New Mexico (Blue Water Lake area) to Clyde and Trudie McKenzie.

He worked on the family cattle ranch where he also broke and trained horses. He also worked in the mines in Grants, NM after High School, and became a professional welder in commercial construction, a position he held until his retirement.

John enjoyed camping with his family in the Colorado Mountains as well in the State of Idaho, where he enjoyed square dancing and cast-iron Dutch oven cooking over the campfires. He still dabbled with his skill of welding making things such as lamps, tables and other items.

John was preceded in death by his first wife Louise Alexander, his parents Clyde and Trudie Alexander, a Great- Great Grandson Clayton John Alexander. Two sisters, Bernice Marble and Katie Mae Huffman.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-three years Jo Ellen Alexander, daughters Trudy Wagner and Roxann Alexander Little and his only surviving sibling, Jean Alexander Alford. Stepdaughter Marilyn (Ben) Hazelwood. 6 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Step-sons, David (Pam), Kelly, Kenneth (Nina) and Kevin (Faith) Standifer.

14 Step-Grandchildren, Numerous Step Great grandchildren and 4 Step Great-Great Grandchildren.

A Celebration of John's life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday November 16, 2024, at First Baptist Church, 700 Navajo Ave in Aztec, New Mexico.
