John Calvin Osborne of Aztec, NM passed away on October 31, 2022.
He was born to Antony Lee Osborne and Mary Polling on December 23, 1942, in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
He had 10 brothers and sisters, 5 children and 9 grandchildren. He was a mechanic by trade. He started out working on cars in the gas stations in Guthrie, Oklahoma and when he moved to New Mexico he shifted to diesel mechanics and heavy equipment. He did that until he retired at the age of 62.
He is survived by 3 of his children, Lisa Thurman of Aztec, NM, Rebecca Douglass of Green River WY, and Tommy Osborne of Tuttle, OK, and 6 of his siblings, Jeannie Lingerfelt of Nipomo, CA, Francis Irby of Denton, NC, Earl Osborne of Guthrie, OK, Betty Phillips of Crescent, OK, Mary Sue Sheets of Hunter, OK, and Linda Bostwick of Bella Vista, AR.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents, 2 of his children, Johnny Lee Osborne and Miranda Faye Osborne, and 4 of his siblings, Junior Lee Osborne, Tommy Osborne, Charles (Chuck) Osborne, and Loretta Osborne.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and hiking. He also was an amateur gunsmith and liked to collect old antique guns. He had a passion for classic cars and was always telling stories about different ones he had when he was younger.
He was family oriented and was very proud of his children and grandchildren and boasted about them every chance he got. He enjoyed talking to people, it didn't matter if he knew them or not. His eyes always had an ornery shimmer in them.
He is loved and will be greatly missed. This world will not be the same without him, but we know he's in a better place.
