Jon Joseph Oberst, age 70 of La Plata, NM passed away on Sunday February 9, 2025. Jon was born on January 13, 1955, in Neshanic, New Jersey to the late James Christopher Oberst and Ruby Euphemia Gary.
Jon was a simple and charismatic man who never wanted any real luxuries in life. He was quite the jokester and had a unique chuckle that made you giggle to yourself. In his younger days he served in the United States Navy and became a Jack of all Trades, working as a mechanic, and worked construction until finally retiring as a shrimper in Louisiana for the last 30 years. He loved to tinker around on old cars and motorcycles, especially Harley's. Until his final days he was still helping his friends work on projects up until he became too ill. He will tenderly be missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Wendy Anne and his grandson Andrew
