Jose Patricio Chavez (aka Joe Pat) age 71 of Farmington, NM passed away at his home.
Peacefully surrounded by his friends and family Sunday January 21, 2024. He was born on September
14, 1952 to Adolfo Sr. and Inomia Chavez in Chama, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his
parents, his sisters Rosabra (Manuel) and Betty Jo Quintana, Candie (Manuel) Martinez, Stepfather Julio
Maes, nephew Adolfo Chavez and half-brother Donald Gallegos.
He is survived by his brother Adolfo Chavez II, sisters Mabel Chavez, Chon "Mary" and Robert Pacheco,
Chena and Theodore "Santiago" Martinez, Boo Boo Martinez and many nieces, nephews and extended
Family members, as well as his beloved pet dog Peanut.
Jose was involved in The Farmington Special Olympics program for over 10 years, competing and winning
many metals in various sporting events. He also enjoyed spending time with all his friends at The
Bonnie Dallas Senior Center in Farmington where he volunteered his time with Meals on Wheels and
delivering bread and pastries to those in need.
Memorial services will be held Saturday February 17, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2100 E. 20th
St. Farmington, NM 87401. With the Holy Rosary being recited at 10:30 am and a Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 am. A reception will follow services at St. Mary's Parish center. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Pacheco, Tyler Hill, Max Pacheco, Kenneth Deyapp, Matt Martinez, Matthew Martinez, Joseph Romero, Bonnie Dallas Sr. Center Staff members, Kera Jones, Laura Herrera, Ramona Jaramillo and Ramona Rivas.
Burial will take place in Chama Cemetery, Chama, New Mexico at a later date.
