Karen Sue Sherman, aged 78, passed away on March 8, 2025, in Farmington, NM. Born on September 7, 1946, Karen lived a life marked by her deep love for her family, a passion for singing, and a career dedicated to bookkeeping.
Karen was a vibrant and opinionated individual who brought joy to those around her. She was not shy about sharing her thoughts, which only added to her charm. Her love for music was evident as she often sang in the choir at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and while relaxing at home. Karen also enjoyed playing the organ, crocheting, watching mystery shows, and was an avid reader.
She pursued her education at Pima Community College in Tucson, AZ, where she honed her skills in bookkeeping. Karen's professional life as a bookkeeper was distinguished by her exceptional ability to "crunch numbers like nobody's business."
Karen was a devout member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Farmington, New Mexico, where her funeral services will be held. The rosary will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at the same location.
She leaves behind her beloved husband, Robert Sherman; sons, William Verhein, Paul Sherman (Jacqui), and John Sherman (Amanda); and daughter, Margaret Sherman (Cody) and many grandchildren. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Florence La Pointe.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in New Mexico, Catholic Charities, or the Knights of Columbus, honoring Karen's spirit of giving and community support.
