Kathryn Robbins

May 20, 1942 — April 10, 2025

Kathryn "Kathy" Eleanor Robbins, born May 20, 1942, in San Diego, California, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on April 10, 2025, at the age of 82, after a long and courageous journey with dementia.

A dedicated teacher and lifelong learner, Kathy spent her career shaping young minds with patience, warmth, and a deep commitment to education. After graduating from San Diego State College, she began her teaching endeavors in San Diego and then continued teaching briefly in Pagosa Springs and Ignacio, CO before settling down in Aztec, NM where she spent her 25 years teaching at McCoy Elementary. Though having a reputation of being the "tough" teacher, her students would overwhelmingly respond that Mrs. Robbins was one of their favorite teachers. She took joy in teaching generations of families during her time at McCoy.

After retirement, Kathy spent time doing the two hobbies she loved the best; sewing and gardening. She spent hours in her sewing room making clothes for her four grandchildren and anyone else she could think of blessing with a homemade gift. Kathy never met a stranger in her life and would joyfully do and give to anyone she thought needed help.

Of all the titles Kathy held during her life; daughter, sister, teacher, wife, mother, friend, her most treasured title was "Nonny" to her four grandchildren. They were her loves and she did any and everything for them she could possibly do. Her grandchildren were her topic of discussion with anyone who would listen, right up to the end.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ronald "Lee" Robbins, daughters and sons-in-law Brenna & Eddie Urfer, Ronna & Eric Carpenter, her four grandchildren Sarah Urfer, Stephen Urfer, Wesley Carpenter, Alyssa Carpenter and her brother, Richard Lambe. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Albert & Eleanor Lambe.

A celebration of life will be held this summer in honor of Kathy, with a date to be determined and shared with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to Disabled Veterans of America. The family would also like to extend their deepest appreciation to the staff at Three Rivers Estate and Basin Hospice for the amazing and loving care they provided to Kathy.

To our Nonny, we will miss you always and look forward to seeing you again. We promise to do our best to carry on the love and joy you began!
