Kathy Rivera

Kathy Rivera, 70, of Farmington, passed away on December 26, 2019. She was born November 8, 1949 in Magdalena, NM. to Rudy and Sarah Rivera.

Kathy spent many years working in various jobs as a hotel housekeeper and an amazing cook for several restaurants. Kathy dedicated her life to caring for others and making sure they knew how much she loved them. Even though she did not have children of her own, she played an important role raising many of her nieces and nephews. She was known as "Aunty Kathy" to many kids whose paths she crossed and felt her unconditional love. She had a way with the kids because she was a big kid herself. Her sweet smile, big hugs, silly songs, great snacks, and a helpful hand were things she filled all the days of our lives with. Kathy made friends everywhere she went and people only had to meet her once to remember her name. Her impact in this life is immeasurable. There are five words that best describe her - loving, selfless, hard working, forgiving, and supportive.

Kathy was loved by everyone who knew her and this world will miss her more than words can express.

The family would like to thank her loving care givers, Gina Harvey, Lisa Martin, and Karen Toledo. Also a special thanks to the staff and friends that she made at Life Care Center of Farmington.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Rudy and Sarah Rivera; brothers Rudy Rivera, Jr., Gilbert Rivera, Rollie Rivera, Tony Rivera; sisters Mary Lou Huebert and Bonnie Gonzales.

She is survived by her sister Margaret Lujan and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a Rosary at 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 9, 2020 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11:00 am, Friday, January 10, 2020 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Interment will follow the service at Memory Gardens Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at St. Mary's Parish Hall.
