Leo Maestas

Leo R. Maestas, 76, of Farmington NM, passed away on January 5, 2019 in Farmington. He was born on April 24, 1942, in Algodones, NM to Helireo and Isordita Maestas. Leo was welcomed in Heaven by his daughter, Michele, with a big smile; along with his brothers and parents.

He will be missed by his one remaining brother, children, and grandchildren. They each had a special relationship with him. His grandson's enjoyed playing tricks on him, which he always played right along. There was always fun and laughter when Leo spent time with his grandkids.

Leo was a hard worker, making sure to always provide for his four children. He enjoyed his lifetime career as a meat cutter and for most of his life, held two jobs. Leo always lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed playing golf, attending the horse races while living in California, dancing; and was always the life of the party. He will most be remembered for his loving and forgiving heart; and acceptance of all people. He was a friend to everyone he met. Leo is preceded in death by his daughter Michele Maestas, brothers Marcell, Jerry, and Elsandro, and sister Lucy Maestas. He is survived by his son's Eric (Phyllis) Maestas, Anthony (Michelle) Maestas, daughter Cindy (Travis) Austin, and brother Ernie Maestas; grandchildren Amber and Anthony Martinez, Darrell and Debora Bowen, Kamrun and Hailey Bowen, Anthony Maestas, and Kylie, Jazmin Bowen, and Darrell, Annamarie and Juan De La Rosa, Louisa and Brandon Detrick, Lucas Maestas, Adrian Maestas, Lareina Maestas, Larissa Maestas, Lilliana Maestas, and 16 great-grandchildren. Services for Leo will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday January 10, 2019, Rosary is scheduled at 9:00 a.m. with a mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. in Farmington, N.M. with Father Tim Farrell officiating.
