Leta Werito Dale, 84, of Farmington, NM, passed away on February 5, 2025, in Aztec, NM. Leta was born on January 23, 1941, in Bisti, NM, to Billy and Ella Werito.
Leta was a beautiful, devoted woman of God. She had a contagious smile that lifted those around her. She had a big heart and was always ready to share what she could with anyone in need. Leta always told those around her that she was praying for them. Leta had many friends she called family; she was everybody’s mom and grandma. Leta enjoyed spending time with her family, whether it was going on road trips, shopping, eating, going to the flea market, or her Thursday breakfast outings.
Leta worked as a dorm mother; she built transformers and made wigs in Los Angeles, California. She devoted 21 years of her life working for Golden Corral, where she then retired. Leta lived in Los Angeles, California, and started her family there before moving back to Farmington, NM.
Leta is preceded in death by her daughter, Corinne Dale; her parents, Billy and Ella Werito; and her sisters, Lorena Begay and Etta Benally.
Leta is survived by her daughters, Colleen Dale, Cornelia Dale, and Cheryl Dale; her brother, Andrew Werito; her sisters, Bernice Yazzie, Lillie Chee, and Rose Werito; and her grandchildren, Shayleen McElreath, Zachary Benally, Danielle Dale, Destiny Dale, Domonique Dale, Jeremy Thomas, and Symone Thomas, as well as her great-granddaughter, Zoey Benally.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM at The Time Has Come Ministries, 400 E. Gladden Dr., Farmington, NM 87401, officiated by Reverend Marvin Begay. Interment will follow the services at St. Luke’s Cemetery in Huerfano, NM. A reception will take place at 2:00 PM at the Sycamore Park Community Center, 1051 Sycamore St., Farmington, NM.
Serving as pallbearers will be Zachary Benally, Dustin McElreath, Micah Yazzie, Jeremy Thomas, Edwin Sandoval, Gerald Soliz Sr., and Isidro Soliz.
Memorials/donations may be made to Farmington Funeral Home.
