Loretta Arlene (Duncan) Beene 86, of Farmington, passed away Thursday, April 6th, 2023, in Farmington. She was born November 2, 1936, in Los Angeles, CA. to Johnetta Arlene and Roland Thomas Duncan. She grew up in Borger Texas where she met and married Vance (Buddy) Beene, on January 25, 1958.
She became a resident of Farmington in 1980, she enjoyed spending time with her sisters, her children and especially her grandchildren. She attended as many of her local grandchildren’s events as she could, known as “Grandma Grandma” with a lawn chair in one hand and a cooler of snacks in the other. Favorite memories of all of her grandchildren were her epic breakfasts and sleepovers at her home in Farmington.
She will be dearly missed by her sisters, Patti (Maynard) Ekholm of Pocatello, ID and Sue (Billy) Baker of Euless, TX.
Her daughters will miss her guidance and support. She is survived by her children Celinda Knight, Midland, TX, Joni Nickoley and her husband David, Johns Island, SC, Dawn Washburn and her husband Cliff of Farmington, NM and Eddie Beene and wife Terri of San Angelo, TX. Her grandchildren include Casie Feathers, Stephany Logan, Katie Knight, Midland TX, Hannah (Washburn) Hamblin and Husband Kerby, Carlsbad, NM, Nick Knight, Roswell New Mexico, Emma Nickoley, Charleston, SC, Jack Nickoley, Charleston SC, Mallory Washburn, Eagle Mountain, Utah. Great grandchildren, Gracie Knight, Bliss Hamblin and Graham Hamblin
She was proceeded in death by her parents and her husband.
We would like to thank the staff of Namaste for providing care and comfort for her for the past 3 years once she was no longer able to live independently.
To respect her wishes her graveside service will be private at Greenlawn Cemetery, Farmington, NM. In lieu of flowers the family would request that memorial contributions be made to Namaste House Assisted Living, Farmington, NM.
