It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Louise I. (Serrano) Rivera, 71, Farmington, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister, and aunt who passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024, peacefully at her home, in Farmington. Louise was born on February 22, 1953, in Farmington, New Mexico to parents José Presciliano (Pres) Serrano and Amalia (Chacon) Serrano.
Luisa, as she was lovingly known by all who loved her, was a caring person and homemaker. She loved to read books and spend time with her family. She also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds at the hummingbird feeders hanging from the porch. She spent a lot of time with her fur-baby, Sahara (Chihuahua dog), who was like one of her children. She loved to cook and bake; she was known for her tasty food and especially for her delicious chile (both red and green).
Luisa is survived by her husband and soulmate, Benancio Rivera Gonzáles; her children Yesenia N. Serrano, Adriana R. Serrano, Maria J. Rivera (Miranda), and Alexys L. Rivera; her grand-children Ricardo Miguel (Danielle), Teresa Noemí (Dominic), and José Ángel (partner Caitlin); her great-grandchildren Seaprianna Naomi, Marquis Miguel, Urbana Amalia, Santiago Daniel, Aleseo Miguel, and Diego Gabriel; three brothers Manuel (Sally) Serrano, LeRoy (Jo) Serrano, and David (Exilda) Serrano; five sisters Marcia (Arnold) Graham, Carmen Shay (Winston Cole), Sandra (Mario) Quevedo, Becky David, and Myra (Ron) Martinez; and numerous nephews and nieces, and great nieces and nephews.
Luisa was preceded in death by her parents José Presciliano Serrano and Amalia (Chacon) Serrano.
Rosary will be at 9:30 AM followed by the mass at 10 AM on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2100 E. 20th St., Farmington, NM 87401.
We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Abby and Benedette with Ricelands Home Healthcare and Hospice for taking Great care of our beloved Luisa In her final weeks of life on this earth. And a heartfelt Thank You to the staff of Farmington Funeral Home. Ashlee, your kindness, patience, and understanding is greatly appreciated in the time of our sorrow.
