Luis Fernando Mascarenas, 83, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, in Farmington. He was born April 9, 1934, in Rosa, N.M. to Louisa Lobato Mascarenas and John Frank Mascarenas.

Luis had a passion for life. He was a hard-working man. He was proud of the 18 years he worked at the power plants. After his retirement from the power plants, he was exceptionally proud of the many years running his own trucking company. He and his wife Flora loved to travel and play the horses. Luis was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.

Luis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Celia Mascarenas; granddaughter, Kandice Montoya; and great-grandson, Marquis Montoya. He is survived by his wife, Flora Martin Rivas Mascarenas; brother, Frank (Betty) Mascarenas; sister, Mary Salmon; daughters, Kathy (Emmitt) Beevers, Susan (Wayne) Martinez; sons, Johnny (Gina) Mascarenas and Harold (Mary) Mascarenas. Luis is also survived by his four stepchildren, Jackie Jolley, Vianna (Steve) Welch, Audrey (George) Schmitt and Fabian (Laura) Rivas; 23 grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Rosary will be recited for Luis at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23rd at Sacred Heart Parish, 414 N. Allen Ave. in Farmington with a funeral Mass to follow.
