LuVern J. Hemmerich, 75, of Flora Vista, NM., passed into his eternity with the Lord God Almighty peacefully at his home in Flora Vista on May 9, 2018. He was born March 21, 1943 in Hibbing, MN to Lewie and Lila Hemmerich.
Vern is survived by his loiving wife of 45 years, Linda D'Amico Hemmerich; daughters Marta (Ryan) Wood and Bethany Hemmerich; grandsons Zachary Wood and Matthew Wood; brothers Richard (Carla) Hemmerich, Leslie and Brian; sisters Barbara and Lynda and several nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters Darlene (in infancy) and Marilyn VerSteeg.
Vern was a proud veteran of the Air Force, having served in the Vietnam War. Following his service years, Vern was employed in the silver mines in Idaho, Inland Steel Company in Indiana for 10 years, and PNM in New Mexico from 1980 until retiring with a disability in 2007. He was an instrument Control Electrician (ICE) Technician.
Vern was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors and sharing his skills with his children and relatives. He also loved panning for gold.
An active member of several churches throughout his lifetime, he loved sharing God's Word through teaching and mentoring, especially at his last church, World Harvest Center,. His love for the Lord was his anchor, strength, and joy through the long years of his disability.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 10th at 2:00pm at World Harvest Center, 1024 N. Butler, Farmington, NM with Pastor Christie DeWees officiating.
