Marcella Josalina Maez

"I Made It Home"

"I just wanted to let you know that I made it home. Everything is so pretty here; so white, so fresh, so new. I wish that you could close your eyes, so you could see it, too.

"Please try not to be sad for me. Try to understand God is taking care of me. I'm in the shelter of his hands.

"Here there is no sadness and no sorrow and no pain. Here there is no crying and I'll never hurt again.

"Here it is so peaceful when the angels sing. I really have to for now. I've just got to try my wings."

Our Dear Marcella

Marcella Maez, 32, left this earth on May 23rd in Aztec, New Mexico at her home. She was born January 16th, 1990, in Durango Colorado. Out beloved Marvella has left behind an everlasting impression of selflessness, humor, love, friendship, and solace. She no longer carries the burden of the world upon her shoulders and can truly be free & eternally happy with her family on the other side of this life.

Marcella embellished the lives she touched in a simplistic and thoughtful way that was received graciously by her friends, family, co-workers, and acquaintances. Her sense of humor and relentless methods of joking were always the life of the party. Her absolute favorite moments were when her family were all together, enjoying each other's company and sharing home cooked meals. Marcella absorbed the outcomes of pure luck and worked hard throughout her life to maintain a standard of honor and purity. She was a social butterfly who enjoyed creating friendships and bonds that each of us who know are blessed to carry on in her name. She would want us to be together and carry on positively by looking out for each other and enjoying the time we spend together. She valued her family above all and lended herself to each of us.

She is survived by her love, Carlos Martinez; her parents Chris and Carolina Maez; sisters, Adena Maez, Carmen Maez; and her brother Christobal Maez; her nephew, Marcus Velasquez; her loyal pets, Optimus Frankenstein and Preciosa Monroe; and numerous aunts and uncles - Allen and Criselda Cordova, Paulette Esquibel, Eleanor Laws, Leroy Maez, Ida Maez, Loida Maez, Betty Maez, Mary Trujillo, Genaro and Rose Maez, Joby and Tina Maez, Peggie and Paul Serna, Jackie and Fred Serna, along with numerous other family members, cousins, and friends. She is also survived by her second parents, Carolyn Martinez, John Montano, and second grandparents, Daniel and Josephine Garcia.

Marcella is preceded in death by her grandparents, Dan & Josie Maez, Jim & Lena Cordova; her aunt, Irene Arnold; her uncle, Joe Maez and Daniel Maez; and her cousin, Daniel Quintana.

There will be a celebration of life for Marcella on May 30th at 4:00 pm at Farmington Funeral Home at 2111 W. Apache St., Farmington, NM. Her burial service will take place in Juanita, Colorado on May 31st at 1:00 pm and will be officiated by Reverend Pete Albo, Jr.
